Road Projects a Major Focus in 2018

Post Date:12/27/2018 2:12 PM
This year, the Colleyville Public Works Department focused much of their work on repairing and improving several roads across the city. While some of these projects are complete and will benefit the community for years, other projects will carry into 2019. These are some of the major projects:

Pleasant Run Road was completed in early fall. This project improved the road from Shelton Drive to John McCain Road with the addition of ribbon curb, sidewalks and trails, up-sizing of the existing water line, the addition of sanitary sewer, and improvements to the drainage system along the corridor.

John McCain Road and LD Lockett received a new overlay surface to ensure drivers had a smooth ride for years to come. Each of these streets underwent base repairs before being milled. A new layer of asphalt went on top with striping planned before the end of the year.

Cheek-Sparger Road The City partnered with Tarrant County to resurface Cheek-Sparger Road for a substantial savings to residents. The road work was from Bedford Road to Heritage Avenue. The project was divided in four phases with the final phase scheduled for completion around the end of the year (weather permitting).

Glade Road Residents will see more work on Glade Road in 2019. At time this article was printed in residents' utility bill, City staff were working to secure a $1.2 million grant for the intersection of Glade Road and Bluebonnet Road. If received, this will be a $1.2 million reduction in costs tax payers will have to spend on the project.

SH26 Work was completed on Phase 2 of State Highway 26. Phase 3, the construction of northbound lanes, is expected to wrap-up in the first quarter of 2019. Phase 4, which is the construction of new medians, is expected to start in the spring. TxDOT expects to finish work on SH26 in the fall of 2019.
