Sculptures Now on Display at the Library

Post Date:04/23/2019 10:57 AM

Tucked into the corners of the Colleyville Public Library and adorning tabletops and book shelves are numerous new art sculptures for patrons and visitors to enjoy. The Colleyville Library is the latest stop for traveling art pieces from Sculptureworks.

Visitors to the library can enjoy over 30 pieces of art including Golden Morning, a life-size retriever dog statue and popular piece among the library’s younger users. Also on the first floor are sculptures entitled Golden Dream and Chasing Rainbows, as well as a fishing tableau located on the New Releases book shelves. Upstairs in the Youth Services area are new children-friendly pieces entitled Lotus Seeker and Searching for the Leprechaun’s
Gold.

At most galleries, no one is allowed to touch works on display. But David Wiegand, founder of Sculptureworks, curates collections intended to be touched. He wants people to interact with the pieces and have tactile
experiences with the art.

The exhibit features the works of artisans throughout theLibrary Sculpture country and represents many different sculpture techniques, cultures, and artistic styles. The library has partnered with Sculptureworks, an organization that aims to bring the world of art to life at your library.

This art piece featuring a giraffe is titled Thirst for Knowledge and is one of several located throughout the library as part of Sculptureworks. Residents are invited to come and view the sculptures, which are also for sale. The exhibit runs through the end of May.
