Colleyville Public Library is gearing up for the Summer Reading Challenge, Reading Is Groovy! Readers of all ages are invited to participate in the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge kick-off event at 6pm on Friday, May 30. Make plans to join the unveiling of the prize room and an evening of games, prizes, food and fun! The Summer Reading Challenge is open to children, teens, and adults. Those ages 12 and under are considered to be in the children’s category; teens are ages 12-17; adults are age 18 and over.
Join us every Tuesday and Thursday for entertainment for the whole family. Come watch jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists, science shows, animal presentations and more. For a full list of performers, visit the library for a program guide or visit the library’s website. Registration for the Summer Reading Challenge as well as weekly story times, programs, and events will open on Monday, May 19. Registration can be done on the library’s online calendar or in person at the Youth Services Desk.
Children’s Summer Reading Rules (Ages 0-12 years)
How does it work?
Starting on Monday, May 19, participants can begin tracking the number of books they read or the number of minutes they read.
· Register Monday, May 19 through Tuesday, July 22 at our ReadSquared website.
· All materials must be checked out from the Colleyville Public Library.
· Books must be kept at least one night.
· Keep all book checkout receipts and bring them in when claiming a prize.
How do I count my child’s reading?
Reading can be counted by book titles or by time.
· Title log (10 books)
· Time log (5 hours)
For participants counting by book titles, every 10 books read or 5 hours of reading, you will complete a level and earn a prize and be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing. The more you read, the more chances you have to win!
What kind of reading counts for children?
· Reading a book or e-book
· Listening to a book read to you
· Listening to an audiobook or e-audiobook
What are the prizes for children?
The prize room opens on Friday, May 30 at 6:00 PM at our Kickoff Party. Prizes can be claimed in person at the Kickoff Party and your last chance for prizes is Wednesday, July 23.
For children, the first prize for reading ten books or for five hours includes: a book bag and a T-shirt (while supplies last), and one automatic entry into the grand prize drawing.
The first 200 participants to complete their first 10 books or five hours will also receive a complimentary kids pass to NRH20 Family Water Park, while supplies last. An assortment of prizes will be earned for each subsequent level! Prizes earned can be claimed by presenting reading logs and checkout receipts at the Prize Room, during regular library hours.
Teen and Adult Summer Reading Rules (Ages 12 to Adult)
How do I sign up to participate in the Teen or Adult Summer Reading Challenge?
Please note: There is no longer an online Teen or Adult Summer Reading Challenge in ReadSquared. Visit the Library to pick up entry forms or submit your reading online via Google Forms. The Adult Summer Reading Challenge is designed for ages 18+ and the Teen Summer Reading Challenge is for ages 12 to 17. Turn in an entry form for every book read or every teen/adult program attended to be entered in our weekly prize drawings.

· Reading a book or e-book
· Listening to an audiobook or e-audiobook
· Attending a Teen or Adult Program
Reading or program participation started on or after May 19 can be submitted on an entry form.
What are the prizes for Teens and Adults?
Every book read or teen/adult program attended earns participants an entry into our weekly prize drawings. After five entries, participants will receive a Summer Reading T-Shirt (while supplies last) and will be eligible for our Grand Prize Drawing. The more books you read, the more chances you have to win! The first weekly prize drawing will take place on Monday, June 2. The last day to turn in entry forms is Thursday, July 24.
